Bring your family for a day at the Oakland Zoo. Oakland Zoo was founded in 1922 and managed by the Conservation Society of California, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife both locally and globally. The Zoo is home to over 700 native and exotic animals. They are located in 6 main areas throughout the Zoo: Flamingo Plaza (Flamingos), Wild Australia, Children’s Zoo ,Tropical Rainforest, African Savanna and African Veldt.
Due to the popularity of the zoo, particularly on weekends and holidays, the limited parking fills quickly between the hours of 10:30am to 2:00pm. If you arrive between these hours, parking may not be possible on zoo grounds. Guests can alleviate traffic and parking challenges around the zoo by taking public transportation or ridesharing services, or by arriving early morning or after 2:00pm.
